The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a U.S. not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders.
SWE is comprised of 34,000 members from all engineering and technology disciplines, with 189 members in India out of which 73 are in Pune (as on May 2015). This makes SWE a premier not-for-profit organization respected among the engineering community.
SWE now has a global footprint with introduction of Affiliate Groups in important geographies outside North America. In Pune, SWE proposes to bring together women in engineering and technology for the purpose of exchanging information about engineering developments and challenges across disciplines and countries.
To stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity.
To be key to the success of women in engineering and technology.
